The Government consulted extensively in 2008 and early 2009 in finalising the design of the expanded national Renewable Energy Target scheme (158 KB) agreed by COAG on 30 April 2009.
In December 2008, exposure draft legislation on the design of the Renewable Energy Target scheme was released for public comment. Submissions closed 20 February 2009.
A report by McLennan Magasanik Associates on the benefits and costs of the expanded national RET scheme design as reflected in the exposure draft legislation is available to download.
In December 2008, the COAG Working Group on Climate Change and Water released a consultation paper on the treatment of electricity-intensive, trade-exposed industries under the expanded national RET scheme. Submissions closed 20 February 2009.
Previously, in July 2008, to inform design of the RET scheme the COAG Working Group on Climate Change and Water had released a consultation paper on the key design issues for public comment. Submissions closed 30 July 2008.
